Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the chopped cabbage, grated carrot, chopped green onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- 2
Assemble the Gyoza
Place a gyoza wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the filling into the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, fold it in half, and pinch the edges together to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- 3
Pan-fry the Gyoza
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a thin layer of oil. Once hot, arrange the gyoza in the skillet, making sure they don’t touch. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
- 4
Steam the Gyoza
Carefully add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover immediately with a lid. Let them steam for about 5-6 minutes until the water evaporates and the gyoza are cooked through.
- 5
Serve
Remove the lid and let the gyoza cook for an additional minute to crisp up the bottoms. Serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
