Tofu
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Tofu
Remove the tofu from its packaging and drain excess liquid. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top to press out additional moisture for about 30 minutes.
- 2
Cut the Tofu
Once pressed, cut the tofu block into thick slices, approximately 1 inch thick.
Frying
- 3
Coat the Tofu
In a shallow dish, combine cornstarch, salt, and ground black pepper. Dredge each tofu slice in the cornstarch mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.
- 5
Fry the Tofu
Carefully add the coated tofu slices to the hot oil in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Once fried, transfer the tofu slices to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
