Venison

Mashed Potatoes

Green Beans

Method

Prepare the Venison

  1. 1

    Prepare the Venison

Season the venison steaks with salt and black pepper. Dip them in buttermilk, then dredge in flour, ensuring they are well coated.

  2. 2

    Fry the Venison

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the venison steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Make the Mashed Potatoes

  1. 3

    Boil Potatoes

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into chunks. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 4

    Mash Potatoes

Drain and return to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until creamy and smooth.

Prepare the Green Beans

  1. 5

    Cook the Green Beans

In a separate pot, bring water to a boil. Add fresh green beans and cook for 5-7 minutes until tender. Drain and toss with butter, salt, and black pepper.

Make the Gravy

  1. 6

    Prepare the Gravy

In the same skillet used for frying the venison, add drippings (if any) and 0.5 cup of flour. Whisk together and gradually add milk while stirring until the mixture thickens. Season with salt and black pepper.
