Baking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Pan
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt 1/2 cup of the butter and pour it into a 9-inch round cake pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the melted butter.
- 2
Arrange Pineapple and Cherries
Place the pineapple slices on top of the brown sugar mixture. Place a maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple slice.
- 3
Mix the Cake Batter
In a large bowl, cream together the remaining 1/2 cup of butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- 4
Combine Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until just combined.
- 5
Pour the Batter
Pour the batter evenly over the pineapple and cherries in the cake pan.
- 6
Bake the Cake
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 7
Cool and Invert
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate. Serve warm or at room temperature.
