Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Season the Black Angus steak with salt and crushed black peppercorns on both sides.

  2. 2

    Sear the Steak

In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil. Sear the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and let rest.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Onions

In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions. Sauté until the onions are caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Make the Peppercorn Sauce

Add minced garlic to the onions, sauté for another minute. Then, add heavy cream and the remaining crushed black peppercorns, simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Dish

Place the rested steak on toasted bread, top with sautéed onions, and then layer with provolone cheese. Broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.

  6. 6

    Serve

Drizzle with the peppercorn sauce and serve immediately.
