Ingredients for French Dip and Au Jus

Method

Directions for French Dip and Au Jus

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Season the beef roast generously with salt and black pepper on all sides. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the beef roast until browned on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer the roast to a roasting pan.

  2. 2

    Cook the Onions and Garlic

In the same skillet, add sliced onions and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are soft and caramelized, about 10 minutes. Spread the onions and garlic over the beef roast in the roasting pan.

  3. 3

    Add Broth and Worcestershire Sauce

Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over the roast. Cover the roasting pan tightly with foil and place it in the preheated oven.

  4. 4

    Roast the Beef

Roast for approximately 3 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender. Check occasionally and add more broth if necessary to keep it moist.

  5. 5

    Slice and Serve

Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain. Serve the sliced beef in the French rolls or baguettes with a side of the au jus for dipping.
