Add Tomatoes and Broth
Stir in the canned diced tomatoes (with their juices) and the chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Season the Soup
Add the shredded chicken, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir well to combine. Let the soup simmer for about 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Stir in the lime juice just before serving for a fresh flavor.

Prepare Tortilla Strips
While the soup is simmering, cut the corn tortillas into thin strips. In a skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium-high heat. Fry the tortilla strips until they are crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Ladle the hot soup into bowls. Top with crispy tortilla strips, chopped cilantro, crumbled queso fresco, and a dollop of sour cream. Serve immediately.
