Steak and Fries

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin strips. Rinse in cold water to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Soak the cut potatoes in water for at least 30 minutes. This helps achieve a crispier texture.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

  5. 5

    Cook the Steak

Season the hanger steak with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from skillet and let rest.

  6. 6

    Make the Herbed Butter

In a bowl, mix the softened butter with parsley, chives, thyme, and minced garlic. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  7. 7

    Slice and Serve

Slice the rested steak against the grain. Serve with fries and a generous dollop of herbed Maître d’butter on top.
