Method

Fried Oysters Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oysters

Rinse the oysters under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In one bowl, place the flour mixed with salt and pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk. In a third bowl, combine the cornmeal with paprika.

  3. 3

    Bread the Oysters

Dip each oyster first in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and finally in the cornmeal, ensuring they are well coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Oysters

Carefully place the breaded oysters in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Remoulade Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Remoulade Sauce

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, capers, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well and refrigerate until serving.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried oysters hot with the remoulade sauce on the side and lemon wedges for squeezing over the oysters.
