Ingredients for Kuntry-Fried Steak and Gravy
Method
Directions for Kuntry-Fried Steak and Gravy
- 1
Prepare the Steak
Pound the beef steaks to about 1/2 inch thickness using a meat mallet. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Make the Breading
In a shallow bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg.
- 3
Bread the Steaks
Dip each steak into the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Then, dredge in the seasoned flour until evenly coated. Set aside.
- 4
Fry the Steaks
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded steaks and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 5
Make the Gravy
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add butter. Once melted, whisk in the extra flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 6
Serve
Serve the fried steaks topped with the creamy gravy and garnish with fresh parsley.
