Fried Pickles
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 2
Add Buttermilk
Pour the buttermilk into the dry ingredients and stir until the batter is well combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Pickles
Dip each dill pickle chip into the batter, making sure it is fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the battered pickle chips into the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with buttermilk dressing for dipping.
