Pork Preparation

Method

Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Rub the pork shoulder with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Ensure the pork is evenly coated with the spices.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker, shred it with two forks, and return it to the cooker. Stir in the BBQ sauce and let it heat through for an additional 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

Toast the buns lightly and pile the shredded pork mixture onto each bun. Serve immediately.

Sides Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare French Fries

Cook the French fries according to package instructions, either by baking or frying until golden and crispy.

  2. 6

    Make Cornbread

Prepare cornbread according to package instructions. Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.

  3. 7

    Prepare Onion Rings

Fry the onion rings according to package instructions until crispy, or bake them in the oven as per the package directions.

  4. 8

    Make Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine coleslaw mix with your choice of dressing (mayonnaise or vinaigrette) and mix well. Chill before serving.

  5. 9

    Serve Potato Salad

If using store-bought potato salad, simply place it in a serving bowl. If homemade, prepare as desired and serve chilled.
