Preparing the Burger Patties

Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, barbecue sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until evenly incorporated.

Form Patties
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about ¾ inch thick.

Chill
Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before grilling.
Cooking the Burgers

Preheat Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F to 400°F).

Grill Patties
Place the chilled patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.

Add Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

Cook Sides
Prepare your choice of sides. For French fries, bake or fry until golden and crispy. For cornbread, follow package directions or your favorite recipe. For onion rings, fry until crispy and golden.
