Method
Onion Rings
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the large onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. Gradually stir in the cold water until you get a smooth batter.
- 3
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove the onion rings with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
Dipping Sauce
- 7
Mix the Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, lemon juice, and garlic powder. Mix until smooth.
- 8
Serve
Serve the dipping sauce alongside the crispy onion rings.
