Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Take an old-fashioned glass and place it on your bar or work surface.

  2. 2

    Add Sugar and Bitters

Place the sugar cube in the glass. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters on top of the sugar.

  3. 3

    Muddle Ingredients

Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently crush the sugar cube and bitters together until the sugar is dissolved, creating a paste.

  4. 4

    Add Water

Pour 1 teaspoon of water into the glass with the sugar and bitters mixture. Stir gently to combine.

  5. 5

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with 3 ice cubes, ensuring the ice sits directly on top of the mixture.

  6. 6

    Pour Bourbon

Slowly pour 2 ounces of bourbon over the ice and mixture, allowing it to chill and mix with the flavors.

  7. 7

    Garnish

Express the oils from a strip of orange peel over the drink, then drop the peel into the glass. Finish by adding a maraschino cherry on top as garnish.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately and enjoy your classic Old Fashioned cocktail.
