Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.

  3. 3

    Combine Milk and Cheese

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue cooking, stirring frequently until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Lower the heat and add the shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until the cheese has completely melted and the sauce is smooth.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Combine Pasta and Cheese Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce. Mix well to ensure all pasta is coated.

  2. 5

    Prepare Topping

In a separate bowl, mix the bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, and paprika together.

  3. 6

    Top the Mac & Cheese

Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture into a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the breadcrumb topping over the macaroni.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the mac & cheese for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy.

  2. 8

    Serve

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your rich and cheesy baked mac & cheese!
