Cocktail Ingredients

Method

Cocktail Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint and Sugar

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add 10 fresh mint leaves and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the mint leaves to release their oils, mixing them with the sugar. Be careful not to tear the leaves too much.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime into wedges. Squeeze the juice from the wedges into the glass, adding about 1 tablespoon of lime juice (you can adjust to taste). Drop the wedges into the glass after squeezing.

  3. 3

    Mix in the Rum

Pour 2 ounces of white rum into the glass with the muddled mint, sugar, and lime juice. Use a spoon or straw to stir the mixture gently to dissolve the sugar.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes (about 1 cup) to chill the mixture.

  5. 5

    Top with Club Soda

Pour 4 ounces of club soda over the ice and the mixture. This will add fizz to the cocktail.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish your mojito with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately with a straw.
