Brisket Preparation
- 1
Season the Brisket
In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this seasoning mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- 2
Sear the Brisket
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the brisket and sear it for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until browned.

- 4
Rest the Brisket
Once cooked, remove the brisket from the skillet and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing. This will help retain the juices.
Sides Preparation
- 5
Prepare Cornbread
Bake the cornbread according to your favorite recipe or package instructions, allowing it to cool before slicing.
- 6
Make Coleslaw
Combine shredded cabbage, carrots, and your choice of dressing in a bowl. Toss well and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- 7
Arrange the Platter
On a large serving platter, arrange slices of brisket next to portions of cornbread, coleslaw, and pickles. Serve BBQ sauce on the side for dipping.
