Method
Brisket Preparation
- 1
Season the Brisket
Rub the brisket with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Make sure to cover all sides of the meat.
- 2
Sear the Brisket (Optional)
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sear the seasoned brisket for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned. This step adds flavor but can be skipped if short on time.
- 3
Slow Cook the Brisket
Place the brisket in a slow cooker and pour in the beef broth. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the brisket is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
Barbecue Sauce Preparation
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes.
- 5
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- 6
Finish the Brisket
Once the brisket is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker, slice it against the grain, and serve with the barbecue sauce drizzled on top.
