Preparation
Combine Base Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Whisk together until the brown sugar is fully dissolved.
Add Flavor Enhancers
Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes to the saucepan. Stir to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
Cooking
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Thicken the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly pour the slurry into the saucepan while stirring constantly. Continue to simmer for an additional 5 minutes until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
Bottling
Cool and Bottle
Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. Once cooled, pour the sauce into a 12oz bottle using a funnel. Seal tightly and store in the refrigerator.
