Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the water while mixing with your hands until a rough dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- 3
Rest the Dough
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap or place it in a bowl covered with a damp cloth. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- 4
Roll Out the Dough
After resting, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to slice it into wide noodles (about 1/4 inch wide).
- 5
Cook the Noodles
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the sliced noodles and cook for about 8-10 minutes until they are chewy and tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 6
Drain and Rinse
Once cooked, drain the noodles in a colander and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process and remove excess starch.
- 7
Serve
Serve the udon noodles in a broth or stir-fry with your favorite vegetables and proteins. Enjoy!
