Dumpling Dough

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, mix together ground pork/shrimp, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and season with salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

After the dough has rested, divide it into small balls. Roll each ball out into a thin circle, approximately 3 inches in diameter.

  4. 4

    Fill the Dumplings

Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal. You can pleat the edges for a traditional look.

  5. 5

    Cook the Dumplings

Steam the dumplings in a bamboo steamer lined with parchment paper for about 15 minutes until cooked through. Alternatively, you can boil or pan-fry them.
