Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour, turmeric, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add cold water, mixing until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in the scotch bonnet pepper, thyme, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Pour in the beef broth and simmer until the mixture thickens. Let it cool.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Patties

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into circles (about 6 inches in diameter). Place a spoonful of filling on one half of each circle, fold over, and seal the edges with a fork.

  4. 4

    Bake the Patties

Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
