Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of potatoes to the hot oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pot.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the French fries hot as a side dish or snack.
