Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cut the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Using a crinkle cutter, slice the potatoes into crinkle-cut fries, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the crinkle-cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Fries

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel to remove any excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil reaches the right temperature.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried crinkle-cut fries to the hot oil in batches, being sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While still hot, season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the crinkle-cut fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
