Fried Pickles

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickle chips and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well. Gradually add the buttermilk to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Pickles

Dip each pickle chip into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  5. 5

    Drain and Serve

Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried pickles to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with ranch or bleu cheese dressing.
