1. Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

2. Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps them become crispy.

3. Drain and Dry

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel. This is important for achieving crispy fries.

4. Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

5. Fry the Potatoes

6. Drain and Season
