Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Start by bringing the top sirloin steak to room temperature. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the medium onion into thick rings. In a bowl, toss the onion rings with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a pinch of salt.

  3. 3

    Grill the Onions

Preheat the grill to medium heat. Place the onion rings on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until they are soft and have grill marks. Remove from the grill and set aside.

  4. 4

    Grill the Steak

Increase the grill heat to high. Rub the remaining tablespoon of olive oil on both sides of the steak. Place the steak on the grill and cook to your desired doneness (about 4-5 minutes per side for medium rare). Use a meat thermometer for best results: 130°F for medium rare, 140°F for medium.

  5. 5

    Rest and Serve

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes. Top with the grilled onions before slicing and serving.
