Marinade

Method

Marinating the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green onions. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the top sirloin steak in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.

Grilling the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and let it come to room temperature for about 15 minutes. Discard the marinade. Season the steak with salt and black pepper.

  3. 5

    Grill the Steak

Place the steak on the hot grill. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time to your desired doneness.

  4. 6

    Rest and Serve

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with your choice of sides and additional teriyaki sauce if desired.
