Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix wasabi and shoyu until well combined.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ahi Tuna

Dip one side of the Ahi tuna steaks into the wasabi shoyu mixture, ensuring it's well coated.

  3. 3

    Press in Furikake

Immediately press the coated side of the Ahi steaks into the furikake seasoning, ensuring an even layer.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Sear the Ahi

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of oil if desired. Carefully place the Ahi steaks in the skillet, furikake side down. Sear for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown, then flip and sear the other side for an additional 1-2 minutes, keeping the center rare.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate the Dish

Serve the seared Ahi tuna with a side of cooked rice or french fries, tossed salad, and corn.
