Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients: rye bread, corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing, and butter.
- 2
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread 1 tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing on one side of each slice of rye bread. On two slices, layer corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut, then top with the remaining slices of rye bread, dressing side down.
- 3
Grill the Sandwich
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, place one sandwich in the skillet. Grill until the bread is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- 4
Flip and Cook
Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet and carefully flip the sandwich. Grill the other side until golden brown and the cheese is melted, another 3-4 minutes.
- 5
Serve
Remove the sandwich from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot with additional Thousand Island dressing on the side, if desired.
