Beef and Roll Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Roasting the Beef
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Rub the regal round beef roast with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan.
- 2
Cook the Beef
Roast the beef in the preheated oven for about 3-4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare. Baste the roast with beef broth every hour to keep it moist.
- 3
Resting the Beef
Once cooked, remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing.
- 4
Making Kummelweck Rolls
While the beef is resting, prepare the Kummelweck rolls. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the dough and sprinkle with coarse sea salt and caraway seeds. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- 5
Assembling the Sandwich
Slice the Kummelweck rolls in half and pile on the sliced roast beef. Serve with horseradish on the side, if desired. Pour some beef broth over the beef for added flavor.
