Mushroom Burger Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mushrooms

Clean the Portobello mushrooms with a damp cloth. Remove the stems and gills if desired.

  2. 2

    Marinate

In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and balsamic vinegar. Brush this mixture onto both sides of the mushrooms.

  3. 3

    Grill the Mushrooms

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Place the marinated mushrooms on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until tender and slightly charred.

  4. 4

    Melt the Cheese

If using cheese, place a slice on each mushroom during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill. Place a grilled mushroom on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, and avocado slices if desired. Add the top half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the mushroom burgers warm with your favorite sides.
