Prepare Meatball Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into 12 equally sized meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Combine Meatballs with Sauce
Return the cooked meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the sauce for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Prepare Sub Rolls
While the meatballs are simmering, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the sub rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.

Assemble Sub
Place 3 meatballs in each sub roll, spooning marinara sauce over the top. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously on each sub.

Place the assembled subs on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve
Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve immediately.
