Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Meat Sauce

  1. 2

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  2. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cheese Mixture

  1. 4

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix well until fully combined.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Layer the Lasagna

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then add half of the ricotta cheese mixture, followed by a third of the meat sauce. Repeat the layers: noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, and half of the remaining meat sauce. Top with the final layer of noodles, the rest of the meat sauce, and finally sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

Baking

  1. 6

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
