Method

Preparing the Filling

  1. 1

    Mix the Cheese Filling

In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, chopped fresh basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Assembling the Ravioli

  1. 2

    Fill the Ravioli

If using store-bought ravioli, fill them with the cheese mixture. If making homemade ravioli, roll out the dough, place small spoonfuls of the cheese filling on one sheet, then cover with another sheet and seal the edges.

Breading the Ravioli

  1. 3

    Prepare the Breading Stations

Set up three bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan cheese.

  2. 4

    Bread the Ravioli

Dip each ravioli first in the flour, then in the beaten eggs, and finally coat them in the breadcrumb mixture. Ensure they are well-coated.

Cooking the Ravioli

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.

  2. 6

    Fry the Ravioli

Carefully add the breaded ravioli to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 7

    Drain the Ravioli

Once cooked, remove the ravioli from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

Serve the toasted cheese ravioli hot with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
