Method
Cooking Pasta
- 1
Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil. Add 2 cups of penne pasta and 1 tsp of salt.
- 2
Cook the Pasta
Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- 3
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
Cooking Chicken
- 4
Prepare the Chicken
While the pasta is cooking, season 1 lb of boneless chicken breast with 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of black pepper.
- 5
Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat 2 tbs of olive oil over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
- 6
Slice the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes. Then slice it into strips.
Making Marinara Sauce
- 7
Heat the Marinara Sauce
In the same skillet used for the chicken, add 2 cups of marinara sauce, 1 tsp of dried basil, and 1 tsp of dried oregano. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes.

Once the marinara sauce is heated, add the drained penne pasta to the skillet and toss to combine.
