Gravy Ingredients

Method

Gravy Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over medium heat until fully melted and bubbly.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the butter is melted, add 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour to the butter and whisk continuously for about 2-3 minutes, until the mixture turns a light golden brown. This is your roux.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Drippings

Slowly pour in 2 cups of turkey drippings while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to whisk until the mixture is well combined.

  4. 4

    Add Broth and Seasonings

Gradually stir in 1 cup of chicken or vegetable broth, then add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

  5. 5

    Simmer

Bring the gravy to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. Cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.

  6. 6

    Season to Taste

Taste the gravy and add salt as desired. Stir well to incorporate.

  7. 7

    Serve

Once the gravy has reached the desired thickness and flavor, remove from heat and serve hot. Perfect for drizzling or dunking with your roasted turkey and subs.
