Preparation Steps
- 1
Caramelize the Onions
In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the Parmesan Cream Sauce
In a small saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add 1 cup of milk, whisking continuously until the sauce thickens. Stir in 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 3
Assemble the Flatbreads
Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Spread a layer of the Parmesan cream sauce over each flatbread. Top with caramelized onions, sliced tomatoes, and pieces of prosciutto. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
- 4
Bake
Place the assembled flatbreads in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 5
Finish with Balsamic Glaze
Remove the flatbreads from the oven and drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.
