Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Chicken
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch.
Breading Process
Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour seasoned with salt and pepper, one with beaten eggs, and one with bread crumbs. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip in the egg, then coat with bread crumbs.
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add breaded chicken breasts and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Layer with Sauce and Cheese
In a baking dish, spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place the fried chicken on top, then spoon the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
