Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Meat Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- 2
Form the Patties
With wet hands, form the meat mixture into oval-shaped patties or skewers, about 4 inches long.
- 3
Cook the Meat
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until nicely browned and cooked through.
- 4
Warm the Pita Bread
While the meat is cooking, warm the pita bread in a separate pan or in the oven until soft and pliable.
- 5
Assemble the Gyros Plate
On each plate, place a few pieces of the cooked meat, add slices of tomato, cucumber, and a handful of shredded lettuce. Serve with warm pita bread and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce.
