Prepare the Patty
In a large bowl, combine ground lamb or beef, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined and form into 4 equal patties.

Cook the Patties
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the grill with olive oil. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

Prepare the Buns
While the patties are cooking, you can toast the burger buns on the grill until lightly golden.

Assemble the Burgers
Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, grilled onions, and tomato slices. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
