Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brie

Remove the Brie cheese from its packaging and place it in the freezer for about 30 minutes. This will make it easier to handle when breading.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three shallow bowls, set up your breading station: one with all-purpose flour mixed with salt and black pepper, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.

Breading Process

  1. 3

    Bread the Brie

Once the Brie is slightly firm, remove it from the freezer. Dredge the Brie in the flour mixture, coating it evenly. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs. Ensure it is fully covered by pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the temperature by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil; it should sizzle and bubble immediately.

  2. 5

    Fry the Brie

Gently place the breaded Brie into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to flip and remove the Brie carefully.

  3. 6

    Drain Excess Oil

Once golden brown, remove the Brie from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate and Garnish

Transfer the fried Brie to a serving platter. Optionally, garnish with fresh herbs and serve with honey or fruit preserves for dipping.
