Method
Steak Preparation
- 1
Season the Steak
Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- 2
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- 3
Cook the Steak
Add the seasoned steaks to the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them.
- 4
- 5
Rest the Steak
Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Fries Preparation
- 6
Prepare the Potatoes
Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips to resemble fries. Soak the fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- 7
Dry the Fries
Drain the soaked fries and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.
- 8
Heat the Oil
In a large heavy pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 9
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the fries in batches to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
- 10
Drain and Season
Remove the fries from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain. While still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.
