Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into even strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of potatoes to the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot as a side dish or snack.
