Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bacon

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then chop into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Cook the Vegetables

In the same skillet, remove excess bacon fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add chopped onion and bell pepper, and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Brown the Beef

Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 7-10 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Spices and Beans

Stir in chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another minute before adding the kidney beans and diced tomatoes (with juice).

  5. 5

    Combine and Simmer

Add the chopped bacon back into the skillet, stir to combine, and let the chili simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve hot, garnished with additional bacon if desired.
