Method
Bread Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough starts to form.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 6
Shape the Bread
Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or divide it into smaller rolls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Second Rise
Cover the shaped bread with a towel and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
- 8
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising.
- 9
Bake the Bread
Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- 10
Cool
Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
Dipping Oils Preparation
- 11
Combine Ingredients
In a small bowl, mix the extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, and fresh herbs.
- 12
Serve
Transfer the dipping oil to a serving bowl and serve alongside the freshly baked bread.
