Method

Prepare the Batter

  1. 1

    Whisk Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, crack 4 eggs and beat them lightly. Add 1 cup of milk, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, 1 tsp of cinnamon, 2 tbs of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Whisk the mixture until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth.

Prepare the Bread

  1. 2

    Soak the Bread

Take 6 slices of thick sliced bread and dip each slice into the egg mixture. Allow each slice to soak for about 10-15 seconds per side, ensuring they are well coated but not overly soggy.

Cook the French Toast

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet or frying pan, melt 2 tbs of butter over medium heat until it starts to foam but not brown.

  2. 4

    Cook the Slices

Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet, ensuring they do not overlap. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, or until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes.

  3. 5

    Repeat

Remove the cooked slices from the skillet and keep them warm in a low oven while you repeat the process with the remaining soaked bread slices.

Serve

  1. 6

    Plate and Garnish

Serve the French toast warm, drizzled with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
