Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Burgers

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Top with tomato, onion, and pickles, then close with the top half of the bun.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite sides.
