Old Fashioned Chicken Fried Steak Recipe
This is a 'BIG' chicken fry. Country breading and deep fried to a golden brown. Topped with country gravy.

Prepare the Steak
Pound the beef round steak to about 1/2 inch thickness using a meat mallet. Cut into serving-sized pieces.

Set Up Breading Station
In one bowl, mix together the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg.

Bread the Steak
Dip each piece of steak first into the buttermilk mixture, then into the flour mixture, coating evenly. Repeat for all pieces.

Fry the Steak
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded steak pieces and fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve
Place the fried steak on plates and generously spoon the country gravy over the top. Enjoy!
